    I'm a sports car kinda guy, but I do pickup truck sorts of things. I know nothing about pickup trucks and I need some edumacatin'. My current daily driver is a V6 Accord coupe. I need to be able to move 4x8 sheets of stuff. The Accord has grudgingly put up with this, but has made it's occasional displeasure known. Except for the search dog stuff, I rarely travel out of town. I'm not planning on towing anything. In the short term, the truck would be my daily driver. In the medium term i. I see trucks with a LOT of miles on them that look good.

    How much does mileage matter for a truck that is frankly not going to be used a lot? What is "a lot" of miles, and does this vary by brand? At what point do these things implode? Gas or Diesel for this kind of role? I have no problem buying used cars, but I always cringe when I think of buying a used truck because you just don't know what someone might have done with a truck.

From what I've noticed with GM trucks that's all I've owned anything over , is a crap shoot.

    I try to get anywhere from K to K before getting into a new truck.     I thought a lot of the GMs normally start having issues with the slushbox around K miles Fords and imports I haven't heard so many stories about. The torque converter had been slipping for a while before that, and it had started running hotter than normal, but kept working.

    You could tell it needed an overhaul. A new pump, torque converter, and replacement of bushings and some other parts seem to have it working like new. The engine is still doing fine. How much are you wanting to spend?
